Has anyone noticed how the Hate Party, made up by Marmite for its latest advertising campaign, shows how hateful it is by putting a Union Flag behind the Party leader?

This may be an attack on the British National Party. However, it is certainly an attack on the flag and traditions of this country. It seeks to associate the flag of this country with hatred.
I suggest an immediate boycott of Marmite, and a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority, which is a provate body overseeing the suitability of advertising:

I have just made a complaint. It was really easy.
Whereas the “Love” party, complete with red rosette, wants to spread the love to other countries …….
Yes, I saw this advert this morning.
Also notice how the Hate Party version normalises and spoofs the smoking ban. I will complain, although normally I would disapprove on freedom of speech grounds I think in cases like this using the enemy’s own weapons against them has a certain beauty to it…
It does mock tradition and holding on to one’s turf, so to speak.
It is an unfortunate mental disease that Britain has that believes that you don’t have to maintain any standard or borders or definition because everything is good and if only we will let everyone be good and stop mucking them around, they will be.
No, sweet lady, they want everything you’ve got. Unregenerate human nature does not naturally aspire good-wards.
And to posit hate against folly is to put up a straw man.
When I see commercial commercials going political I get alarmed. It was done on a massive scale with beer ads in South Africa around 1990.

I complained on the grounds you suggested, and Manwidecombe’s. I didn’t mention smoking. Oh, but I did say it wasn’t on for Marmite to juxtapose the British flag with forced migrations and their connotations of the Holocaust. That should put the cat among the pigeons, so to speak!

If it’s not an indirect attack on the BNP then it’s certainly playing on the implications of their recent coming to the fore. It wouldn’t really matter anyway I don’t think. Anyone disgruntled enough to vote for the BNP will vote for them anyway. And as they say, no publicity is bad publicity.

If that was an Israeli flag in the background and Guernsey was substituted for ‘the far side of the Gaza Strip’, I would imagine the makers of the advert would already be in police custody.

The ‘Love Party’ broadcast is almost as astonishing. Red rosettes aplenty, and more truth than you’ll find in the real Red Party broadcast, when we see it. Not very subtle at all.
I’m only surprised they didn’t start the ‘Brown Party’ or ‘Brown is good for you’ campaign, based on the colour of marmite of course, and having nothing whatsoever to do with the electoral prospects of a certain Scottish sociopath.

Well I for one will not be purchasing Marmite ever again and informing everyone else I know the reasons why.
I’m not interested in complaining to them, they know exactly what they have done, nice one Marmite congratulations!
