  1. Nearly everyone in the public arena met Jimmy Saville in those days.

Whatever vile and terrible things Mr Saville may or may not have done (and he was never convicted of anything – or even accused whilst he was still alive to answer the charges against him) trying to smear the late Mr Powell (guilt by sitting next to someone) is disgusting.

Shame on Sean Gabb (who pretends to be an admirer of the late Mr Powell) for pushing this stuff.

  2. If it is a caption competition (and I have had a sense of humour failure – not uncommon for me), I will have a go……

The caption for Mr Powell will say “I believe Mr Saville is mistaken about the doctrine of transubstantiation”.

And the caption for Mr Saville will say “But, Mr Powell, consubstantiation (the position of your own Church) has never been clearly defined”.

  3. Saville: Now then, now then, now then. I have denied that rumour about “a partial erection, when he’s clothed”.

Powell: [in his usual hoarse whisper voice] No, no, no. I was asking if a “party election” one of the things you might be able to fix, “when Heath goes.”

  4. Yes Mr Allman – the desire to get Heath out, led Mr Powell to what was (with hide sight) the biggest mistake of his life, urging people to vote Labour in 1974 (Heath was a disaster – but “vote Labour” undermined Enoch Powell’s influence within the Conservative Party).

Still I have been to Birmingham and I have been to Northern Ireland – and I prefer Northern Ireland (at least the part of it that Mr Powell represented). Sadly, in the end, there were not enough Catholic Unionists (the oft forgotten group – who do exist) to keep Mr Powell in the House of Commons.

  5. John Biggs-Davison was a Catholic Ulsterman (at least he told me he was!) and a Unionist. I was in love with one of his daughters once. Lovely woman, she was.

  6. Yes David – they are the forgotten people (both North and South).

They included Mayors,(including of Protestant towns) army Generals, police chiefs……

The IRA targeted any Roman Catholic in the police (or whatever) for murder – and the “Civil Rights” swine of the 1960s came along and said “there are not enough Catholics in …….” – whilst their IRA friends (and the “Civil Rights” movement was joined at the hip with the IRA) was murdering as many as it could.

I despise these leftists (the IRA and so on) and the “libertarians” who repeat their lies – in both an American and British context.

You tell me that Sean Gabb does not really support the “libertarian left” – that he hates them as much as I do.

If that is so – why does he publish their stuff? Why has he been pushing their stuff for years?

If he knows that the “Libertarian” left would support the IRA and the other “Social Justice” outfits around the world (and he, Sean Gabb, hates these Social Justice outfits) why does he push their stuff?

I just do not understand it – I have been baffled (and enraged) for many years now, about it all.

Still I should not go on and on about it – I am just going to have to get used to it.

I am sorry that things did not turn out better for you with the daughter.

  7. All the charges against Saville that have any level of detail beyond “she saids” break down. I don’t believe he did a goddamned thing ever beyond shag ordinary, willing, of-age females. Taking about “smearing” Enoch Powell is nonsense as is the idea that Sean doing anything other than having an ironic laugh.

You need to drop this silly vendetta that blows minor matters out of all proportion.

  8. Mr Ecks – I will drop it the day (the moment) Sean stops pushing the stuff of the various forms of Black Flaggers.
