My Legacy of Margaret Thatcher article has so far been republished in:
The Independent
The Malay Mail
And it has been republished on dozens of blogs. I will, however, repeat this:
Margaret Thatcher was neither a libertarian nor a conservative. Whenever she claimed to be either, she was a fraud. This being said, it is also worth noting that many of the people now celebrating her death hate her not for what she did, but for what her supporters wish she had done. We have no reason to love her. But those most vocal in hating her are people who hate us. See, for example, how The Independent republished my โLegacy of Margaret Thatcherโ article yesterday, and left everything in except my complaint that she tightened the censorship of discussion on immigration and race. It’s interesting that nobody except the Libertarian Alliance is taking a purely analytical line on Margaret Thatcher. Sean’s analysis of her time in power, while it make for uncomfortable reading, was
(1) not meant to make people feel good, but merely to see what had gone actually on as regards real effects of her tenure, and
(2) is quite objective.
I personally would have liked to believe otherwise about her, for things did seem to “noticeably improve” while she was the Queen’s First Minister, and my own life also did take turns for the better, on the whole.
The rest of the scumbags on both sides seem to be divided between “she saved Britain” (whatever that means) and “she was a fascist right wing racist Nazi scumbag”. We know what that means, for we are talking Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Pol Pot, Mussolini, Mao-tse-Tung, the various Kimboys, the dead Castro, Higo Chavez and the like. Neither position is heplful.
I wanted to believe otherwise about her. I even cried when the news came through of her resignation. But all things are revealed by the passing of time, and she wasn’t so wonderful after all.
Paul, you are actually building a plant in the USA, which will be producing
oil from coal at 30 dollars a barrel, Texas company.
Yes that l’ll give you, I don’t think we will see the likes of her again, they used to call her the” Battle Maiden,” I think in all honesty she would have have made a good side man on the front lines in the trenches, she wouldn’t run away. she was shit on by her own Tory party at the end, remember she was never defeated in an election, I would not compare her with hitler or any of the others, come on she was not as bad as that, lets face it she took on a bag of shit and made it better for a while, but like all things other people F it up. There’s one thing about Tatcher, she will not be forgotten. Anyway she did not care if people partied after her death she wanted them to, claiming that at least she had acheived something. At least we must remember she was english, what a god send. she made some bad moves, but she did bring in the Anglo Irish agreement, which I think lead on to the peace process, nobody could ever copy her style, that was what she was, there will only ever be one Magret Hilder Thacther, another controversial, personality figure perhaps in our long English history.Perhaps with a few drops of Bodicca like blood !

Good old Indie. There’s a paper you can rely on to toe the Guardian line even harder than the Guardian.
Robert, where do you get the wrong idea she dismantled the welfare state,
she was the architect of DLA piont of fact.
