Neither last nor least:
One or two individuals lately have found my attempts to sell my books to them in these mailings offensive, so let me start this by inviting you to unsubscribe if you agree with them. I believe following the link to the “Publisher’s Note” above will take you where you want to go.
Writing (and selling) books, however, is the way I make a living, and has been since 1977. That’s 34 years ago, longer than most of the recipients on this list have been alive. That’s what allows me to remain as politically active as I am.
Of course maybe that’s their point.
The real purpose of this communication is to let you know that, if you’re looking for a Christmas gift, especially for a difficult person to buy for, I have three ideas.
Mostly I write science fiction. My latest in that category is Ceres, a finalist for the 2011 Prometheus Award. It’s the story of a young ice skater, born on the asteroid Pallas at 1/20 of the gravity of Earth, traveling from world to world in the 22nd century Solar System, a pretty libertarian place, training to compete on the planet of our species’ birth. Although males find it interesting and exciting (the scene with the Spaceport Security thugs seems to be a favorite) I believe females will enjoy its touching human stories of women on the Endless Frontier.
Then there’s Sweeter Than Wine, a very unusual vampire story I’d been meaning to write for more than 20 years, long before the current flood of vampire stories was even a trickle. Partly an action-adventure story, partly a tale of long-lost love. STW is primarily an exploration of ethical behavior under the most difficult of circumstances. Once again, I think women will like it, too — they have so far.
Finally, there’s Down With Power, a compendium of libertarian policy on just about every issue you can name. It’s intended for readers who wonder what libertarianism consists of, those who are committed but new to the movement, and candidates for office who would like to have a policy guide. It also has a sure-fire recipe, “The Plan”, for fixing what’s wrong with this
country. It’s on the very brink of being published and when it appears, you may not need your Internet connection to hear me whooping about it. Please stay tuned.
The three books above are (or will soon be) published by Phoenix Pick and best available through Amazon.com in dead-tree form or as e-books on Kindle and several other systems.
There are also my webcomics over at BigHeadPress.com, several of which are available on paper and/or Kindle, as well as your computer screen. Look for The Probability Broach, Roswell, Texas, Phoebus Krumm, and TimePeeper.
And if you’re interested in what’s coming next, there’s Blade of p’Na from which I’ve printed some excerpts in The Libertarian Enterprise. It’s a prequel to Forge of the Elders, which is still available, published by Baen Books, and available at Amazon.com.
