  1. Although it’ll save “only” a few million up front, how about asking for abolition of NHS funding for most of the 200,000 abortions that are carried out in England and Wales each year?

Since most NHS abortions are carried out by the rather oddly-named British Pregnancy Advisory Service (a registered charity), those who feel particularly passionately to the contrary are, of course, welcome to donate towards the costs involved.

If nothing else, I would welcome the prospect of reintroducing the issue of freedom of conscience into debates on the spending of taxpayers’ money.
